Haboobs (aka Dust Storms)
So you’re new to Phoenix, and someone mentions the word “haboob.” You’re curious, and wonder what it (really) means. Here’s what it means: a huge dust storm unlike many Phoenicians have ever experienced. It happened on July 5, 2011. There have been several other haboobs since that day. This video by Mike Olbinski went viral. It’s pretty cool.
